Police in Buckinghamshire have issued an appeal for witnesses after a cyclist allegedly punched a female driver in Aylesbury.

The incident happened at 8.45am last Thursday morning, 21 July, in Wendover Road, Aylesbury.

According to Thames Valley Police the woman, aged 35, was driving towards Wendover from Stoke Mandeville and had to brake suddenly as she exited a roundabout.

The cyclist, riding behind her vehicle, was also forced to brake. Officers say that the rider then followed the car and, when it stopped in a queue of traffic, knocked on the window then punched the woman in the face.

The motorist is said to have suffered injuries to her face, although she did not need to go to hospital.

Police described the cyclist as “white, in his late thirties or early forties, taller than 6ft and of average build.

“He was wearing Nike sunglasses, a black cycle helmet with a blue sticker on the back, an orange cycling top and a black rucksack.”

PC Chris Tindal of Wendover Police Station commented: “I would like to speak anyone who has any information about the incident in which a man punched a woman while she was at the wheel of a car.

“Someone may have vital information which could help us in our investigation and I would request they contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
